History of the World Cup
The first World Soccer Cup was played in Uruguay in
1930. There were 13 world teams. Right now there are 32. 204 national teams competed in the
play-offs. Just the 32 winners are going to the World Cup. Qualification
tournaments are played over a two year. For
example, for the 2014 World Cup being held in Brazil, qualifications started in
2011.
Nowadays
That will
be 20th soccer World Cup in the world. The last soccer world cup played in South America was in
1978 in Argentina. This soccer world cup will be from
June 12th to July 13th
2014. Brazil will be host for the second time in the history of the world cup.
For only the second time Europe won`t be host of the world
cup.

Brazil
hosted the World Cup on October 30th 2007. In 2014, 32 teams will play in different
cities. There will be 8 groups with 4 teams
each. The winning team from each group will continue
to the second round, and the second place team will play with a
team from a different group
and the winner will continue to the second round.
